After School Program Nominations Now Open

Junior After-School competitions are an important part of the Netball ACT sports program. Seasonal programs operate alongside school terms to provide opportunities for both kids that may not be able to make weekend sport commitments or are looking for a fun opportunity to play Netball with their friends and schoolmates.

Our previous session saw approximately 45 children from Lyneham Primary School and Gundaroo Primary School take part in the program, working with experienced Netball ACT staff to develop their skills and keep active. Programs are designed for both girls and boys within the age criteria and encourage team development throughout the nine-round season.

Term 2 will begin on the 9th May 2019 with Finals played on the 4th July 2019.

Netball ACT After School Program Overview

Years 3 & 4 Competition

Students currently enrolled in Years three or four at primary school can compete in this competition. This competition is a learning environment for children and allows coaches to step on court to help the children learn positions and placement on court. Umpires are given discretion on rule application to help with the flow and understanding of the game, these rules are applied more progressively throughout the competition. Consisting of nine rounds, the culmination of the season is the final round which will be a “playoff” for overall places.

Games are played on Thursday afternoons at 3:50pm, 4:30pm, and 5:10pm (dependent on availability and interest).

 

Years 5 & 6 Competition

Designed for students currently enrolled in Years 5 or 6 at primary school. Competition is played under the full Netball Australia rules. The competition consists of nine rounds, culminating in a final “playoff” round for overall places.

Games are played on Thursday afternoons at 3:50pm, 4:30pm, and 5:10pm (dependent on availability and interest).

 

Years 7 & 8 Competition

This competition is designed for students currently enrolled in Year 7 and Year 8 at High School. The competition complies with full Netball Australia rules. The Competition consists of nine rounds, culminating in a final “playoff” round for overall places. Games are played on Thursday afternoons at 3:50pm, 4:30pm, and 5:10pm (dependent on availability and interest)
