The Canberra GIANTS have announced that Maddie Hay and Amy Parmenter will co-captain the side in this year’s Australian Netball League (ANL).
The announcement comes ahead of today’s ANL season opener where the Canberra GIANTS will take on the Netball NSW Waratahs at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre (7.30pm).
The match is the first of two games against the Waratahs with game two to be played at the Genea Netball Centre tomorrow, Sunday 19 February (12pm).
Hay has represented NSW at 17/U, 19/U and 21/U National Netball Championships and was selected in the Australian17/U (2012) and Australian 19/U (2013)squads.
Parmenter has represented NSW at 17/U (2014) and 19/U(2015/16) National Netball Championships and was selected in the Australian 17/U (2014) and 19/U (2015) squads. The Canberra GIANTS have also added Melissa Tallent and Canberra’s Shannon O’Connor to their leadership group.
The ANL is an important competition for the development and progression of netballing talent.
It is a feeder competition for the new national competition Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) with coaches keeping a watchful eye on young talent coming through the ranks.
The newly revised ANL competition will see eight teams compete over seven rounds with the finals series to take place in Perth in April.
