Meet the Forum!

The Forum has been involved in the social competition for over a decade, playing on a weekly basis in Tuggeranong.

Netball ACT Competitions Manager Emily Norgate congratulates the team on a great achievement “the Forum has been a great team over the last 10 years. The team come with a smile on their faces every week, and encompass what the social competitions are all about, fun, fitness and friends”.

The team consists of Jo Davies, Kim Rice, Susan Deal, Louise Patton (injured), Paula Naughton, Jacqui Trevethan, Louise Hart, Tricia Scollen- Smith and Laura Scollen-Smith.

Hear from the team and their netball journey over the years.

Tell us about your team?

The team started off as a group of friends who all loved netball that wanted to play and also catch up on a regular basis (Mums, Mates and ‘mostly’ Masters (four M’s = Forum).  The people in the team have changed over the years with players taking time off to grow their families, some unfortunate injuries and player retirements.  The current line-up has been together for about four years now.

What do you enjoy most about playing in the social competition?

I get to play netball in a social environment with my friends (for most of us the warm-up is standing around talking), it is a great way to stay connected.  The competition is also a great way of ensuring that we get out and do some exercise every week.  One of the amazing things is there are two team members who now play alongside their daughters, which is an honour!

Over the years what specials milestones have your team celebrated ?

We have had some grand final wins in the competition, celebrated milestone birthdays, new children and much more.

What are the team netball highlights?

One of the great highlights for our team was finally winning the Div 1 grand-final against (former team) Doms.  They had won the grand final for probably 10 years (20 seasons) in a row before that – probably five years of those grand finals against us.

What advice would you give to someone keen to start social netball?

I would tell them to have a go – the competition is great fun.  We have met some really lovely people, played some really good netball games and been able to stay in touch with friends.  Lynn and the team down at Tuggeranong do a great job with the competition; they are really supportive and helpful.

We wish the Forum all the best for the upcoming  Winter competition. If you are interested in joining the social competition limited registrations remain. The competitions are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at both Lyneham and Tuggeranong.  The competitions cater for both females and mixed teams, for more information head to
