Darters call on Pink Army

Canberra Darters call on PINK ARMY support in 2014

Canberra fans will get their only chance to see the Canberra Darters in action when they play three Australian Netball League games at the AIS Arena commencing on Friday.

The weekend of netball will feature seven ANL games with the Darters taking on the Victoria Flames on Friday night (6.30pm), Territory Storm (Saturday, 7.30pm) and defending ANL champions next Sunday (2pm).

Darters coach Melinda Clarke has called on home supporters to get behind the local team after a tough start to the season.

“Four losses on the road wasn’t how we wanted to start the season but we’re looking to turn our form around in front of our home fans,” Clarke said.

“The support of the Darters is the best of any team in the ANL with our attendances the highest of any team in the league.”

“We’ll be relying on that backing with three hard games this weekend.”

Clarke said the ANL was an important domestic competition for ACT netballers.

“To have the opportunity to play against high quality players in a leading domestic competition is a great foundation for our young players to build their senior netball careers on,” Clarke said.

“Every year is challenging given the quality of opposition we face but that’s what drives us to test ourselves against the best.”
