Queanbeyan has earmarked their 2014 Canterbury State League campaign as a year whereby they will look to develop a number of their junior players.
Last year Queanbeyan returned to the Canterbury State League division one competition and were outstanding in reaching the finals.
Despite bowing out to Belconnen in week one of the finals Queanbeyan earned the respect of every team in the competition with the way they fought hard in games.
In 2014 there assignment has been made harder by the loss of Carly Res (recovering from injury), Amy Morschel (work commitments) and Farrah Marolt (recovering from shoulder injury).
However on a positive note Queanbeyan have gained Hills District goal shooter Emma Coglan who will be a handy addition.
“We’ve lost a few players who were involved in last year’s squad so we’ll be relying on players coming up from division three,” Queanbeyan coach Rena Spears said.
“Our main goal this season is to develop those players and build for the years ahead.”
Spears has identified Arawang as the team to beat but warns Belconnen and Tuggeranong will challenge them strongly.
Queanbeyan meet defending champions Arawang in their opening game of the season on Friday night. All division one games commence at 9pm.
