Giants Netball vs Canberra Giants

Next week, Netball ACT will welcome GIANTS Netball to Canberra as they launch into the Suncorp Super Netball pre-season with a friendly against the Deakin University ANL Canberra GIANTS. The match will take place on Friday, 1 March, 2019 at the Frank Stuart Training Halls at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Nicole Bowles, Talent and Performance Manager at Netball ACT, welcomes the challenge for the Canberra GIANTS, who took home the Silver Medal in last year’s DUANL Grand Final.

“This is the first competitive game of the pre-season for our Canberra GIANTS. Last year, the team put on an impressive performance against the GIANTS and we expect the team to push the nation’s best players again.

“It is great to have such high-calibre athletes in Canberra. It is a wonderful opportunity for our young up-and-coming players to get close to athletes who are competing on the national stage. Whilst it’s another chance for the Canberra community to see our very own Canberra GIANTS athletes in action,” said Bowles.

Benita Bittner, Netball ACT General Manager, is also thrilled to play host to GIANTS Netball in the SSN and DUANL pre-seasons.

“It is fantastic that GIANTS Netball continue to support the Canberra GIANTS by providing our athletes with these opportunities to compete against not only Australia’s best athletes, but the best netballers in the world. As the largest female participation sport in the ACT, with over 10,000 female participants, it is so important our young athletes have the opportunity see strong, female netball role models in action in their own community,” said Bittner.
