Christmas Appeal
Netball ACT is thrilled to join hands with Communities at Work for their Christmas Appeal. We're excited to announce that inside the SolarHub ACT Netball Centre, we will be hosting a Giving Tree. Our Giving Tree is set up at just inside the foyer area of the building. We are collecting donations from Monday 20th November to Friday 15th December 2023. During this period, we invite you to contribute to the appeal by placing your donations under our Giving Tree. All donated items will be forwarded to Communities at Work, who will ensure they reach families in need before Christmas. Everyone deserves to experience the warmth and joy of the holiday season, and through this initiative, Netball ACT hopes to play a part in spreading that spirit. FAQ ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS APPEAL & COMMUNITIES AT WORK
Communities at Work is Canberra's largest not-for-profit organisation, serving the Canberra community. They are the leading provider of children’s services as well as providing services for seniors, people with a disability and the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Last Christmas, Communities@Work assisted over 1,100 individuals by providing 1,006 food hampers. We stocked our Christmas Cave with all the donated food and gifts and ensured that everyone in need got something to make their and their family’s Christmas special.
No, gifts donations need to be unwrapped as people want to see what it is they are choosing. Communities at Work provide rolls of wrapping paper and cards at the front door of the Christmas room for people to use if they need it.
Netball ACT Giving Tree will be located inside the centre in the foyer section (you can't miss it).
You can drop off you donations during business hours (9am-5pm) Monday to Friday or during our social night competitions (5:30pm-10pm) Monday to Thursday evenings. Please only leave donations under the Christmas tree inside the Centre. DO NOT leave items outside the front doors.
Each year a specially decorated Christmas room is set up in the Gungahlin and Tuggeranong Community Centres, called the “Christmas Cave.” People who are current clients of our pantry services are invited to visit the room and choose something from the donated items. Volunteers and paid staff set up the spaces and are there to support people during their visit.
Volunteers will confirm the number of people in a family by viewing a person’s Medicare card. This indicates how many gifts a person can collect.
Communities at Work provide people with free food and hygiene items, bus tickets, pay for medical scripts, provide showers and shower packs, information and referrals, as well as assisting in any way we can. We accept donations at all times of the year. Visit our website for more information: www.commsatwork.org/support
