Sporting Schools is an initiative by the Australian Government, enabling schools across the ACT to seek funding for implementing Netball Programs for their students. These programs are adaptable to meet the unique needs of each school and its students. In addition to program delivery, Sporting Schools offers the opportunity to acquire equipment for program implementation. The goal of Sporting Schools is to cultivate a lifelong passion for sports among children, promoting physical and mental well-being, and ensuring a fun and inclusive environment. Netball Schools and Fast5 netball programs are designed to blend skill-based activities with modified games. They are led by certified Netball ACT coaches, guaranteeing a high-quality netball experience for all participants. Teachers are eligible to deliver the Sporting Schools Programs in their schools. Teacher must be an individual who is an employee of the School that has a valid State and/or Territory teacher registration.
Sessions are generally based around a 30 to 60 minute session. Sporting Schools programs can be delivered at a time that suits your school either before or during school hours.
Sessions can run before, during or after school for 30 to 60 minutes, and can even align to your PE timetable to suit your schools curriculum.
Yes, equipment can be purchased using Sporting Schools funding. High Schools can purchase a Fast5 Equipment Kit through the Sporting Schools portal, while all schools with funding are able to purchase equipment from external providers. We recommend purchasing equipment through HART Sport as they have a variety of options that will suit your schools needs.
