State Teams

Each year Netball ACT selects a 17U and 19U team to represent the territory at the Netball Australia National Netball Championships (NNC).

2021 will see the Championships hosted by Netball Tasmania at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre from the 4 - 11 July. Twelve athletes will be selected in each team and will commit to weekly court sessions, strength and conditioning and individual development from March to July 2021. 

The ACT State Team programs aim to provide: 

  • the best opportunity for team success in the National Netball Championship, 
  • extend NACT athlete pathways to provide opportunities at all levels of the sport
  • prepare developing athletes and coaches to process through the NACT and Netball Australia pathways
  • provide opportunities for athletes, coaches and support staff to be exposed and have access to the high-performance environments.

Nominations for the 2021 ACT State Teams are now OPEN and close 5pm Friday 13 November 2020. 

Nominations are being sought for athletes wishing to be considered for the 2021 Netball ACT 19s and Under and 17s and Under Teams. The primary objective of the State Team program is to identify and select up to twelve (12) eligible players of each age groups and provide the best opportunity for team success in the National Netball Championship. Netball Tasmania will be hosting the 2021 National Netball Championships from 4-11 July 2021 at the Hobart Netball & Sports Centre.

Phase 1 - Saturday 21 November 2020 
9:00am - 12:00pm

Phase 2 -  Monday 30 November 2020

Netball ACT 19 and Under State Team phases will be:

* Netball ACT reserves the right to amend the number of phases required for each age group based on the number of nominating athletes. Any changes to the above phase details will be confirmed via email.

Where an athlete fails to attend one or all physical trials and that athlete believes that exceptional circumstances prevented them from attending part or all of the selection, a written application may be made to NACT within 24 hours of the commencement of
selection for an exemption. The reason(s) for non-attendance must be disclosed and include, where appropriate, relevant documentary evidence. The GMOS will determine whether the athlete will be permitted to trial.

Athlete selections will be conducted in accordance with the Netball ACT Pathways Selection Policy. All athletes and parents are encouraged to be familiar with this policy when nominating.
