Netball ACT is pleased to announce that Nicole Bowles has been appointed as Head Coach of the ACT 17 & Under team for 2022. The team will compete at the 2022 National Netball Championships to be held in Hobart in April.
With both the 2020 and 2021 National Netball Championships not proceeding as a result of COVID-19, 2022 will be somewhat of a reset for these Championships.
Nicole explained, “I am thrilled to be back coaching and looking forward to working with future netball superstars of the ACT. The depth of talented athletes at recent selection trials was fantastic to see and I am excited to be working closely with them as we prepare for the 2022 National Netball Championships.”
Netball ACT Manager of Pathways and The Capital Spirit Head Coach Kate Carpenter congratulated Nicole on her appointment believing Nicole’s experience within the high performance pathway would be an asset to the program. Kate added, “Nicole’s astute knowledge of the technical and tactical aspects of the game will be important in developing this group of young athletes.”
Supporting Nicole will be Emily Clarke who has been reappointed as Assistant Coach for the 2022 Hobart campaign.
Netball ACT will be focussing on greater competitive opportunities in preparation for the 2022 National Netball Championships, including the Heart Kids Cup. Although the 17 & U State program is the first team-based program in the pathway, the development of the Netball ACT Academy has provided athletes opportunities and exposure to Netball ACT’s high-performance standards and values.
Trials for the 17 & Under and 19 & Under athletes took place across the past week, with squad announcements to be made shortly.
