After six weeks of fierce competition, months of training and a preseason like no other the netball community are excited for the Capital Chemist Junior Championship Grand Finals. Hosted tomorrow at the home of netball in the ACT (SolarHub ACT Netball Centre), sixteen grand final matches across six age groups will be played to crown the 2020 champions.
In the forty-year history of the Junior Championships this year has been like no other before. With the impact of COVID-19 restrictions a new competition format was devised to ensure the competition could proceed. Whilst the traditional bustling carnival atmosphere and inter District comradery looked and felt very different this year, we are very grateful to have the opportunity to play this great game.
Nicole Bowles, General Manager – Operations and Sport said whilst the competition delivery logistics have been challenging the netball community have come together and delivered a fantastic event:
“When faced with the problem of how to deliver a competition involving over 900 players, team officials, umpires and support staff in a COVIDSafe environment. I am impressed with how the netball community came together to ensure the 2020 competition could proceed”

A limited number of spectators will be able to watch the games live tomorrow and cheer on their teams. We are looking forward to hearing the roar of the crowd return to the sidelines. Spectators are reminded if you are feeling unwell please remain at home and ensure you follow physical distancing and COVIDSafe procedures as outlined in the Grand Final – Parent Information Pack and advised on the day by Event Staff.
