Athlete nominations for the 2021 The Capital Spirit Opens and U23's teams are now open.
The Capital Spirit Franchise is managed by Netball ACT and provides a crucial step in the performance pathways to support athletes and coaches from the ACT and surrounding region.
The Capital Spirit was born from a snapshot of the rich history of Canberra. Netball ACT looked within our region for recognisable components of our history and story as a community and settled on the iconic “Ethos” Statue. Created by Tom Bass, unveiled in 1961, the 4m tall statue is located on the northern public entrance of the ACT Legislative Assembly Building.
Ethos is the characteristic spirit of a culture, era and community, manifested in its beliefs and aspirations.
To nominate for the 2021 The Capital Spirit program athletes will need to complete the NOMINATION FORM. Nominations close 5pm on Friday 20 November 2020.
Trials will be held on Monday 23 November 2020, 5:30-7:30pm at the SolarHub ACT Netball Centre.
Athlete selections will be conducted in accordance with The Capital Spirit Athlete Selection Policy. CLICK HERE to download a copy of the Athlete Selection Policy. All athletes and parents are encouraged to be familiar with this policy when nominating.
The Capital Spirit Program will commence in January 2021 and conclude in approximately September 2021. The program will consist of 2-3 strength and conditioning sessions plus 2 court sessions and 1 competition match (in season, held at the Genea Netball Centre, Sydney). Competition dates for 2021 are yet to be released by Netball NSW, once this information is confirmed athletes will be advised.
