Netball ACT is excited to announce that Kate Carpenter will again lead The Capital Spirt in 2022 as it prepares for its third year competing in the Origin Energy Netball New South Wales Premier League.
Netball ACT CEO Matthew Battams was pleased that The Capital Spirit program will again by led by the former international coach with experience coaching at three Netball World Cups, two Commonwealth Games and numerous other international netball events. “Kate’s incredible knowledge and experience of preparing teams for high-performance competitions and season campaigns adds tremendous value to netball in the ACT. Netball ACT is very fortunate to have someone of Kate’s calibre again leading this program”.
Kate Carpenter had this to say about her contract extension “Despite so many challenges over the past two years, our High-Performance Pathway has shown positive change and continues to grow especially with the introduction of The Capital Spirit Program. I am excited about the 2022 Season and to see our High-Performance teams contesting the NNSW Premier League, Netball National Championships and Australian Netball Championships.”
In addition to being the Head Coach of The Capital Spirit, Kate will lead the High-Performance Pathway programs across Netball ACT. Battams went on to say “The Manager High Performance Pathways / The Capital Spirit Head Coach role that Kate holds is key to developing netball talent in the ACT. Kate will deliver a program centred around a high-performance culture, delivering individual athlete performance targets aligned to Netball Australia’s National Athlete Pathway”.
Netball ACT is looking forward to an uninterrupted 2022 season.
Preparations have begun for the National Netball Championships to be held in Hobart in April where the ACT’s best 19 & Under and 17 & Under athletes will compete against their interstate peers. An uninterrupted season will also allow the Capital Darters to compete in the Australian Netball Championships which were unfortunately cancelled in 2021.
The Capital Spirit’s 2022 season will kick-off on Wednesday 6th April in Sydney.
