This Sunday, July 28th 2024, promises to be a day of thrilling netball action as the HCF State League Grand Final descends upon Canberra.
The event kicks off at 11am and will feature matches from Division 1, Division 2, and Men's League teams showcasing the pinnacle of local netball talent.
In Division 1, the spotlight will be on reigning premiers – Tuggeranong, as they square off against a formidable Canberra side.
Tuggeranong, led by Coach Natalee George, expressed confidence ahead of the clash, emphasising their season-long dedication and team unity.
“The season so far has been one we are extremely proud of. We’ve set high expectations for ourselves and we are seeing our hard work pay off in our performance on court,” Coach George said.
“Our team-first mantra and close connections have highlighted just how much potential this group has. On Sunday, we write the next chapter.”
Canberra Head Coach Tara Steel highlighted her team’s journey, marked by growth and overcoming challenges.
“The season has been one of both challenges and huge growth. We had to fight to make the top four in the final rounds, and now feel like we are really building nicely. We are very excited to now have a chance to take on the defending champions,” coach Steel said.
“There is no better challenge for us, and we are so excited we have given ourselves this opportunity and will be ready to take it on.”
Netball ACT CEO, Dr. Sally Clark, reflected on the season's success and the anticipation for the Grand Final.
"This season has been exceptional, with an increase from 10 rounds last year to 15 rounds this year, this extension has allowed teams to consistently deliver strong performances, and that dedication will be evident in Sunday's Grand Final”, she said.
“Every team had to fight hard to secure their spot, showcasing high-quality netball throughout. We eagerly look forward to seeing our ACT community come out in force this Sunday to support their teams."
The Grand Final will also feature other exciting matchups, including Division 2's Canberra against Arawang, and the Men's League clash between South Canberra and Arawang.
The HCF State League Grand Final will be held at the SolarHub ACT Netball ACT. Entry is free with doors opening at 10am.
