Division 1
Last year’s Premiers Canberra Netball Association have made a strong statement across the start of the HCF State League season. Going through the first four rounds undefeated, they have their eyes set on being crowned back to back champions.
Canberra Head Coach Tara Steel said, “This year has been challenging for everyone and we are happy to be out on court playing and adapting to the new normal.
“We’ve been happy with our performance to date and are focused on continuing to improve and grow into the back end of the competition. We know other teams will also only get better too and we are the hunted. It’s a challenge and test we are excited to face each week and keeps us motivated.”
With six rounds left to play in the season a top four finish is up for grabs with just two points between 4th and 5th on the ladder, any team could make it with a strong run into finals.

Arawang have been challenged this year with tough contests against both Tuggeranong Netball Association & Canberra Netball Association, who pushed the reigning premiers right to the final whistle.

Following some injuries, we are now consolidating and building for the second half of the season, which I expect will be equally enjoyable and challenging. We are looking forward to it.”

Under 19's Division
At the end of 2019, a decision was made to dissolve the Tier 2 State League Competition. 2020 saw the birth of the Under 19’s Division. Proving to be a hotly contested division with matches weekly going down to the wire, the tussle for 3rd and 4th place will come down to the final round of the competition.
Belconnen Head Coach Emily Clark said “This may not have been the season we imagined, and players have been challenged like never before, but 2020 has shown us what passionate and committed athletes we have here in the ACT and surrounds. We’ve had an exciting first half of the season, with some unexpected results and a lot of hard work and determination, we’re hanging on tight to our position on the ladder. The second half is shaping up to be an edge-of-your-seat battle right to the end.”

Mens League
When Mens League made its entry into the HCF State League in 2018 it arrived with a physicality and display of aerial skill, that netball in the ACT had not seen before and 2020 is no different. With Canberra Netball Association, picking up where they left off in the 2019 Grand Final showing they are the team to beat in 2020.
Canberra Captain Andy Cross said “From the start of the season our intention was to go out and play quality netball, trust the processed that our team and coaches have put together and execute what we work on at training each week. From that the wins have come, which is exciting. The second half of the season is about building on those foundations and continuing to challenge the quality of netball that we put out on court and continue to develop our skills as a team. Hopefully by doing that the wins will continue to come.”
