The HCF State League is down to the business end of the season, with five districts competing this Sunday in semi-finals across four divisions.
Back-to-back Premiers in Division 1, Canberra Netball Association will be looking to head straight to the Grand Final this Sunday when they take on rivals Arawang Netball Association. Canberra have taken the points both times the sides have met in 2021, winning their Round 1 clash 52 - 42 and Round 6 60 - 51. In the Minor Semi-Final Belconnen Netball Association will play Tuggeranong Netball Association, both sides are coming off losses in their final round and will be looking to find form to take home a win on Sunday.
Men’s League saw big changes in the 2021 season, with Premiers Canberra having a slow start to the season losing their first two rounds to Arawang and Belconnen. Belconnen seem to have found their groove though, losing just one game throughout the season and finished the season clear Minor Premiers. They will match up against Arawang on Sunday, who finished their season with a strong win against Queanbeyan 68 – 29. Canberra and South Canberra Netball Association will play in the Minor Semi-Final, for a place in the Preliminary Final.
In Division 2 Belconnen Netball Association was crowned Minor Premiers after only losing two matches throughout the 10-round competition. They will play Canberra in the Major Semi Final for a place in the Grand Final on 22nd August. Fighting for a preliminary final spot will be Tuggeranong and South Canberra, Tuggeranong have been victors both times the teams have met in 2021 but only by the narrowest of margins.
Where teams placed in Under 19’s came down to the final round in 2021. Canberra was able to come home with the Minor Premiership but will face a red-hot Belconnen who haven’t lost a game since a Round 5 upset from South Canberra. When they last played each other, Belconnen came away with a 7-goal victory. Arawang Netball Association have stormed home only dropping one game since Round 5. They will play for a spot in the Preliminary Final against Tuggeranong who came from fourth place to claim the Premiership from Canberra in a nail-biting Grand Final last year.
All semi-finals will be played at the SolarHub ACT Netball Centre on Sunday 8th August 2021, with games starting at 10am.
