A message from Netball ACT CEO, David Marjoribanks:
The Netball family across the country are deeply saddened by the devastating impact of the current bushfire crisis. Many towns and communities in the South Coast & Southern NSW as well as North Eastern Victoria are still in the grips of the fires in what remain very uncertain times.
We know that many of our Netball family here in the ACT are connected with many of the communities that have been affected by the bushfires. So, at Netball ACT we are putting our heads together with our member organisations to work out how we can best support those affected communities, in addition to the initiatives announced yesterday by Netball Australia. What is needed and when it’s needed will no doubt be different across the different locations as the extent of the damage and impact becomes known. The most important thing is that we want our support to last over the longer-term and be as effective as possible.
We have been in discussions with both Netball NSW and Netball Victoria in recent days and have extended offers of assistance to their members. Over the coming weeks and months, you will start to see some initiatives that will involve our staff, players and associations, in both fundraising towards the relief effort, and helping affected communities get back on their feet.
In the meantime, please stay safe.
