Netball ACT (NACT) and the ACT Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (ACTMMNA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in the growth and development of men’s and mixed netball across the ACT region.
The agreement solidifies a shared commitment between the two organisations to increase participation, enhance visibility, and strengthen development pathways for male and mixed-gender netball athletes. Through this partnership, NACT and ACTMMNA will collaborate on strategic initiatives, resource sharing, and co-designed programs that ensure more inclusive opportunities for all players—regardless of gender.
“This MoU is an important step in fostering the growth of the game for men and boys here in the ACT,” said Dr. Sally Clark, CEO of Netball ACT.
“We’re proud to stand alongside ACTMMNA in growing netball’s footprint and championing inclusivity across the community”, Dr Clark said.
President of ACTMMNA, Tamara Weatherburn, echoed the enthusiasm for the partnership and its potential to transform the netball landscape in Canberra.
“We are incredibly grateful to Netball ACT for their support and collaboration. Over the past few years, we’ve seen promising growth in opportunities for boys to train and play alongside their female counterparts in Canberra", she said.
"This partnership will not only strengthen our sport but also enhance community engagement and inclusivity across the region. It’s an exciting milestone that will create more opportunities for athletes to play, compete, and thrive at every level”, Ms. Weatherburn said.
ACTMMNA is a member organisation of Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Association. Established in 2016, ACTMMNA continues to create opportunities for men and boys to play netball, develop their skills and promote the growth of the sport in a demographic which differs from Netball's traditional participants.
This partnership is set to create a more unified and equitable future for netball in the ACT—ensuring the sport continues to grow and reflect the diverse community it serves.
