Nominations are sought from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for election to the Board of Directors of the ACT Netball Association Incorporated (Netball ACT).
The election of Directors will be conducted by the Returning officer taking place on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, in accordance with the Netball ACT By Law 01/06 – Board Elections. A copy is available from Netball ACT via the website.
The current Board of Directors are: Colm Maguire, Nicole Platt, Grace Foo, Anne Collins, Rachel Lloyd, and Andrew Griffin
As per Schedule 1, Transitional Provisions of the Netball ACT Constitution, Colm Maguire is retiring from office at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
Position to be elected are as follows:
- One Director will be elected for a term of three years The Netball ACT Board has already called for nominations for an Appointed Director. Netball ACT is a non-profit state sporting organisation established to lead and support the ACT community to promote, inspire and grow the sport of netball.
Essential requirements to stand as a Director
- A desire to grow the sport of netball.
- A capacity to represent the organisation in a professional manner.
- A commitment to improving the status of netball within the ACT and at Australian level.
- A knowledge and understanding of current issues facing the sport of netball.
- Ability to actively contribute to the work of Netball ACT through Board and other activities.
- A strong strategic and policy focus.
- Knowledge and experience of the legal responsibilities of a company Director.
- Ability to comply with all legal and moral responsibilities of a company.
Preferred requirements to stand as a Director
Netball ACT has established a Nominations Committee to assist with the election of a balanced, skills-based Netball ACT Board to represent its members and their interests. The Nominations Committee has identified gaps in skill and experience of the current Board and provides the following information. Nominations are strongly encouraged from individuals with strong leadership, policy, stakeholder management skills, and a sound knowledge of Netball. Netball ACT encourages applications from First Nations people.
Nomination process
Nominations from candidates wishing to be elected as a Director should complete the Netball ACT Director Nomination Form, including Appendix A: Board Skill Matrix Evaluation, and include a supporting statement that addresses the essential and preferred requirements and details qualifications and experience.
Nominations will open on Thursday, 24th April 2025, and must be submitted no later than 12 noon, Thursday, 15 th May 2024.
Applications should complete the Nomination form and return it with your written supporting documentation to The Returning Officer, Netball ACT. Applications may be mailed to PO Box 423, Dickson ACT 2602 or emailed to sally.clark@netballact.com.au and must be received by 12:00 noon Thursday, 15th May 2025.
