Netball ACT host Capital Chemist Junior Championships

This weekend the SolarHub Netball Centre will play host to the Capital Chemist Junior Championships. Junior Representatives in the 14, 15 and 17 age divisions will take the court across two days of fierce competition with all five of the Netball ACT districts represented.

The Junior Championships is the premier event for Netball ACT junior age groups, with an opportunity to showcase their talents. With such a strong depth of talent within the netball community in the ACT, the Junior Championships provides the ideal platform for bringing together these players at an inter-District level.

“The competition has grown considerably in the last two years with the introduction of the 17’s age group which has grown from one division in 2018 to two divisions this year. The re-introduction of division three for the 11, 12 and 13 age group gives our younger players more opportunity to represent their districts” Kim Symons, Netball ACT Competitions and Facilities Manager said.

With a ‘march-past’ of District Associations scheduled for Saturday, the event will bring together over 280 player athletes, coaches, officials and umpires, along with a gamut of volunteers who are integral in delivering the Junior Championships event.

Capital Chemist is once again onboard as naming rights sponsor for the Junior Championships, their involvement in supporting netball and its development in the community, along with a strong focus on empowering young female athletes provides for an amazing partnership.

“We are excited for this year’s Capital Chemist Junior Championships. With athletes, umpires and coaches advancing on SolarHub ACT Netball Centre to showcase the depth of netball talent from across the ACT.” says Nicole Bowles, General Manager (Acting) of Netball ACT.

She goes on to add “Watching the way our community comes together to support, cheer on and wear their District colours is what this competition is all about. Netball has a way of empowering and encouraging young players to work as a team, be passionate and dream big.”
