Netball ACT is preparing to ‘pink up’ as it hosts a Pink Sports Day on Friday 7th May in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). We will also be hosting a Pink Week for our Social Competitions during that week and our local Districts will be participating as well.
Pink Sports Day is an opportunity for sporting groups around Australia to show their support for, and pay tribute to, local people affected by breast cancer.
Each year hundreds of clubs across Australia take part to show their support for Australians affected by breast cancer. This year Netball ACT will join sporting groups nationwide as they rally together in a bid to raise $500,000.
Funds raised from Pink Sports Day help BCNA's work ensuring Australians diagnosed with breast cancer receive the very best care, treatment and support.
BCNA CEO, Kirsten Pilatti, says hosting a Pink Sports Day presents an opportunity for all sporting communities to support local people affected by breast cancer.
“Pink Sports Day raises funds to provide support for the more than 20,000 Australians who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year,” Kirsten says. “The Pink Sports Day program is proudly supported by major partner, Red Energy, which sponsors the cost for producing, providing and sending the promotional material to sporting clubs around the country volunteering their time and energies for BCNA.”
Matthew Battams CEO from Netball ACT is urging the local community to get behind Pink Sports Day.
“Pink Sports Day is a great opportunity for the whole community to head down to State League and support not only the teams competing on the day, but also those in the local community who have been affected by breast cancer,” Battams says.
"We hope that everyone will come together, pink up and get behind the teams as they play for a great cause!"
