Netball ACT is proud to announce a new partnership with Sport4All, marking a major step forward in its ongoing mission to build a netball community where everyone, regardless of ability, feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to take part in the game.
“This partnership with Sport4All is an exciting opportunity for Netball ACT to strengthen our efforts in making netball more inclusive and accessible for people with disability across the state,” said Mahek Mann, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator at Netball ACT.
“Inclusion isn’t a standalone initiative, it’s something we strive to embed into every aspect of our sport. I strongly believe this partnership will help create positive experiences that encourage lifelong participation in netball and physical activity, ensuring that individuals with a range of intellectual and physical abilities feel welcome and supported", Mann said.
Sport4All is a national, government-funded initiative led by Get Skilled Access, founded by Paralympian and 2022 Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott. The program focuses on breaking down barriers in grassroots sport by helping clubs, schools, and councils embrace inclusive practices and welcome people with disabilities into every level of participation.
“Sport4All is thrilled to partner with Netball ACT to help create more inclusive netball opportunities for people with disability across the ACT,” said Elysha O’Neill, State Manager NSW & ACT at Sport4All.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to breaking down barriers in community sport and ensuring people with disability can choose how, when, and where they want to be involved. We’re excited to work alongside Netball ACT to create real, meaningful change", O'Neill said.
Together, Netball ACT and Sport4All will work to embed inclusive practices across the local netball community, supporting clubs, coaches, volunteers, and players to ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of sport.
With over 80,000 people with disability living in the ACT, representing 19.4% of the population this partnership highlights the importance of ensuring netball reflects the diversity of the community it serves.
