After two years of service, Netball ACT Chief Executive Officer Matthew Battams will finish with the organisation on the 21st of November to return to Brisbane to be with family.
Netball ACT and the Board would like to thank Matthew for his commitment to the organisation over the last two years and acknowledge some of the achievements that have been made in his time as CEO.
There has been a significant improvement in the operations and governance of Netball ACT since November 2020, leaving the organisation in a strong financial position.
Matthew handled the challenges of COVID with a calmness that gave confidence to the community that netball could return in a safe manner.
Pleasingly participation of netball in the ACT has subsequently returned to pre-COVID levels with junior registrations higher than 2019 levels across the Territory.
Netball ACT Chair Sue Scanlan thanked Matthew for his commitment to netball in the ACT and acknowledged that the Association had, under his leadership, undergone a period of significant change; leaving the Association in a much stronger position than when he arrived.
"Matthew has also been instrumental in improving the Association's relationships with key stakeholders and gained the trust and respect of both staff and Board directors," Sue said.
"I appreciate that for Matthew the last two years have at times been difficult because of travel restrictions and we understand his wish to relocate to Brisbane and family. We all wish him well in Brisbane and the next phase of his career."
An announcement will be made later this week regarding the appointment of the new CEO.
