An exciting development off the back of Netball ACT’s Return to Netball Roadmap has come in the form of a partnership with leading Netball Fitness & Coaching based business NETFIT Netball, co-owned by former elite players Sarah Wall and Kim Green. The partnership sees Netball ACT and NETFIT offering fitness and skills-based sessions each week from Tuesday to Friday starting on the 16th June and culminating on the eve of Netball ACT’s first scheduled State League game, 16th July.
Netball ACT’s CEO, David Marjoribanks, said of the partnership “We’ve long held a great relationship with NETFIT Netball and are excited to be able to roll this fitness option out for ACT’s netballers of all ages and abilities. Our main focus is the health and wellbeing of our netball community, and we are excited about the opportunity to get them moving again.” Marjoribanks further added “We all know the benefits of physical exercise towards the mental health of young people and amidst the uncertainty of this pandemic we are really keen to work in a pro-active manner in providing our netballers safe, and importantly fun, options to return to the court.”
NETFIT’s programs are all based on netball specific, fitness teamwork and empowerment exercises to give young netballer’s match-fitness conditioning. Catered for Under 9’s right through to Under 17’s and Open Age, NETFIT’s Head of Partnerships and Content, dual World Champion, Kim Green said “We felt that it was really important to have programs ready and systems in place, once restrictions had eased, to give young netballer’s the chance to get back on the court, active and moving again with their friends.”
The modified content programs, have been developed in accordance with the latest Federal and State Government COVID:19 advice and complement the already, strict and industry leading measures that Netball ACT and the team at the SolarHub ACT Netball Hub Centre had put in place to allow this program to take place. “I’m very familiar with the SolarHub Netball Centre, and it is a fantastic facility to deliver the NETFIT programs” Green added. “We were really pleased that Netball ACT reached out to initiate the conversation around offering this program and see it as a really great move to prepare netballers for a return to play” commented NETFIT’s NSW/ACT Community Manager, and former Canberra Giants captain, Taylah Davies, “I can’t wait to get this community active again!”
ISO designed and administered with a safety-first focus, NETFIT’S 1-hour classes cost $27.50 (inc GST), with more information available on https://netfitnetball.com.au/netfit-events-act/
