The Capital Spirit’s 2021 Origin Energy Premier League campaign commences tonight against rivals the South Coast Blaze. The U23s first match commences at 7pm and the Opens first centre pass is at 8:45pm, both can be watched live via Cluch TV.
The U23s have a young new look side in 2021, with eight of the 12 named athletes set to make their Premier League debut this season. With a newly appointed Captain, Defender Anais Simo the side is looking to build on last years inaugural season. Head Coach Kim Symons said, “I’m excited to be back in 2021, and look forward to seeing what these young guns can put out there.”
The Capital Spirit Opens Team is largely unchanged for the 2021 season, but sees the elevation of midcourters Rachel Gubler and Samantha Bondietti, from last years U23s team. With Keely Rodrigo named Captain again in 2021 and Nalani Makunde being appointed Vice Captain, the opens side will have a strong and experienced leadership group. “With the connections we developed in 2020, I am really looking forward to seeing those continue to strengthen this year,” said Kate Carpenter Opens Head Coach.
