The Capital Spirit head to Sydney for the start of the Origin Energy Premier League Competition, taking on North Shore United in Round 1. The Spirit Opens will be set to face a United outfit who narrowly missed out on a place in the 2019 Finals Series by 0.01% and will be out for redemption in 2020.
Leading into the start of season there has been some movement within the Spirit franchise seeing up and coming shooter Olivia Clark and defender Malia Harrison promoted to the Opens Team. Whilst coming into the squad is two time Canberra Darters Player of the Year Jo Pivac, who will have a dual playing and coaching role, accompanied by experienced midcourter Breanna Toze.
Promoted within the U23’s is goal shooter Lily O’Brien and defenders Zoe Power and Anais Simo.
Eager to be out on court after the extend pre-season Spirit Head Coach Kate Carpenter is curious to see what the 2020 season has install
“We are looking forward to being out on court. Our preparation has been solid, and we are very happy with how everyone has progressed back into a fulltime training load” she said
“Our focus in the first match is around establishing our processes, managing travel and our connections throughout the court. We are confident in our preparation and if we get this right it will come out in the competition results”
