On Friday 20th November Netball ACT hosted its Community Awards Dinner. In 2018 NACT in partnership with SolarHub introduced the Home-Grown Hero Award. This award is to celebrate people in the netball community that go above and beyond to give back to netball.
In 2020 this was awarded to Belinda Daunt from South Canberra Netball Association (SCNA). Belinda founded the St Benedict’s Primary School Netball Club 2018 to join SCNA’s competition. She has built the club from two teams in 2018 to five teams in 2020 across the junior division, NET Set Go as well as fielding teams in the Twilight Netball Competition. Belinda has organised team uniforms, fundraised for the club, facilitated holiday training, organised team celebrations at the end of the season as well as coaching, managing, and umpiring across the St Benedict’s club. This year she has increased her involvement at SCNA by coaching one of the SCNA representative teams. She is passionate about netball, fosters sportsmanship in the club and ensures that all children have fun and enjoy the game. In 2020 Belinda was awarded the SCNA Volunteer of the Year Award.
SCNA’s President Heidi Prowse said “Belinda is truly the epitome of this award. We could not be more grateful to have her as part of our community and thank her for all she has done.”
On behalf of SolarHub, NACT would like to congratulate Belinda on her incredible contribution to netball, and we cannot wait to see what you do next.
