Netball ACT and Sunshine Coast Lightning are pleased to announce the 2020 Deakin University Australian Netball League (DUANL) Capital Darters Team.
The Capital Darters will compete in this season’s DUANL competition as part of a collaboration between Netball ACT and Lightning, which was announced in January.
General Manager – Operations and Sport, Nicole Bowles believes that the partnership between Netball ACT and Sunshine Coast Lightning will aid in the delivery of a competitive program.
“The depth of talent within the ACT and the strong partnership with Sunshine Coast Lightning will enable the delivery of a highly competitive program in 2020,” Bowles said.
Bowles added: “Competing in the DUANL competition provides a key competition platform for the local athletes to fast track their development and provides exposure to the Suncorp Super Netball franchises across the Netball system.”
“Both regions boast an enormous amount of talent and it is exciting to see the talent and the partnership between the ACT and Sunshine Coast regions.”
Sunshine Coast Lightning Assistant Coach, Chris Voge is excited to see the partnership between Netball ACT and the Sunshine Coast come to life, as the team boasts a mix of experienced and emerging talent.
It’s exciting to announce the inaugural 2020 Darters team, as the partnership between NACT and Sunshine Coast Lightning truly comes to life for the first time,” Voge said.
“The team boasts a mix of talent with previous DUANL experience, as well as young emerging athletes and I look forward to working with each of them to foster a strong team who can compete on a national scale.
“The athletes now come together in the Darters’ training environment, across Canberra and the Sunshine Coast; along with a number of full team training camps in preparation for the first round in May.”
Alongside the squad of 12, two Training Partners from each region will be finalised in the preparation period.
