Netball ACT is delighted to announce The Capital Spirit inaugural Under 23 Squad for the 2020 Netball NSW Premier League (NNSWPL) Season.
The U23’s Squad highlights the developing talent within the ACT pathways with the majority of the squad set to make their debut in 2020. Whilst this is the case most have tasted netball at a National Level having competed at the National Netball Championships where they represented the ACT in the 17U and/or 19U competition.
Having all experienced playing senior representative competition through the HCF State League in 2019. The U23 Squad are set to take on their newest challenge as they prepare to meet their fellow Franchises in the NNSWPL competition.
Kim Symons is set to lead the U23 Squad throughout the season, with a group full of potential Symons is eager to get started.
“I am really excited to be working alongside Kate (Carpenter) coaching the U23s Spirit team. This group of athletes is full of potential and talent, so I can’t wait for us to get on court and start training,” Symons said.
General Manager - Operations and Sport, Nicole Bowles believes that the knowledge that Kim possess is important in developing this Franchise.
“Kim’s vast knowledge and experience with local athletes through her coaching experiences with ACT pathways provides her with a unique ability to identify and foster young talent,” Bowles said.
Bowles added:
“In 2020 we are thrilled to see The Capital Spirit program provide opportunities to new and existing athletes within the NNSWPL and HCF State League competitions. Allowing Netball ACT to grow and support athletes based in the ACT region to compete at the highest levels along the development and elite pathways”
Athletes have commenced their pre-season training programs and are looking forward to the first round played on Wednesday 29 April 2020 at the Genea Netball Centre, Sydney.
