Netball ACT proudly congratulates Tara Steel on her appointment as the new National Coach and Technical Director of Netball Singapore.
Steel, who currently serves as Head Coach of Netball ACT’s 19/U State Team and leads the Canberra Netball Association (CNA) Division 1 team in the HCF State League, brings a wealth of experience in coaching and leadership.
With over 15 years of coaching experience in the ACT and having recently completed her Netball Australia High-Performance Coach accreditation, Steel has played a pivotal role in developing high-performance athletes.
She has led the CNA Division 1 team to multiple premierships and coached ACT state teams at the 19/U and 17/U National Netball Championships. Steel also was the Head Coach of the Capital Spirit U/23 team in the NSW Premier League and was an assistant coach for the Canberra Giants in the Australian Netball League.
Netball Singapore President Trina Liang expressed her confidence in Steel’s appointment, highlighting her extensive expertise in both coaching and sports administration.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tara as our new National Coach and Technical Director. Her wealth of experience and proven success in fostering high-performance environments make her the ideal candidate to build on our strong foundation and lead us towards continued success," said Liang.
Steel is eager to bring her knowledge and expertise to her new role, focusing on strengthening the high-performance culture within Netball Singapore and developing future talent.
"I am excited to join Netball Singapore and work with such a talented group of athletes and coaches. Singapore has a strong netball legacy, and I am committed to contributing to its growth and success on the international stage," said Steel.

Under her leadership, Netball Singapore aims to build on its recent successes, including a gold medal at the 2024 Asian Netball Championships, as they prepare for a busy international schedule. The national team’s upcoming campaigns include the UAE Nations Cup in June, the Singlife Nations Cup in November, and the SEA Games in Thailand in December.
Netball ACT acknowledges the significant impact Steel has had on netball in the ACT and Australia and is confident that she will continue to make a lasting contribution to the sport in Singapore.
Netball ACT CEO Dr. Sally Clark praised Steel’s achievements and her exciting new opportunity.
"Tara has been an integral part of Netball ACT’s coaching landscape, inspiring and developing athletes at all levels. While we will miss her leadership here in Canberra, we are incredibly proud of her appointment and wish her all the best in this next chapter of her coaching career."
Steel will continue to serve as Head Coach for our 19/U State Team at this year’s National Netball Championships before transitioning into her full-time role in Singapore.
Netball ACT congratulates Tara Steel on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to seeing her success on the international stage.
