To the ACT Netball Community,
Thank you again to all stakeholders that took the time to provide feedback and input to the NACT Governance and Capability Review late last year.
At the end of January, Matt Miller (Chair of the Review Steering Group) explained that the RSG would meet with the Board to discuss the review recommendations with the Netball ACT Board. This meeting took place and the Netball ACT Board endorsed all recommendations.
18 recommendations were made by the Review. A summary of these recommendations appears below:
- Clarification of Purpose Statement
- Clearly defining Roles and Responsibilities
- The establishment of an Interim NACT Board /Governance Team
- Reviewing the Netball ACT Governance Structure
- Establishing a Nominations Committee for the election of Netball ACT Board Members
- Updating the Netball ACT Constitution
- Undertaking necessary actions for 2021 AGM
- An audit of policies and procedures
- The creation and monitoring of a Governance Scorecard
- Work collaboratively to develop a “Netball in the ACT” Strategic Plan
- Work collaboratively to develop an Operational Strategy Framework to deliver the Strategic Plan
- Create an effective Strategy Implementation Monitoring and Reporting tool
- Proactively seek Shared Services Agreement opportunities
- Implement a fit for purpose Staff Structure
- Develop an effective Staff Recruitment framework
- Update Human Resource Policies and Procedures
- Work collaboratively to develop a “Netball Behaviour Framework”
- Implement a Post Review Communication Strategy
As an outcome of the Review, Netball ACT announced four new Directors had joined the Netball ACT Board on 2nd March 2021.

An effective implementation plan will be critical to successfully adopting these recommendations. I will continue to work with the Netball ACT Board, NACT Staff, District Presidents and the netball community to prioritise these recommendations and ensure the best outcome for netball in the ACT.
