Today the ACT Government announced there will be a pause on moving to Stage 3 ease of restrictions and we will be remaining at Stage 2.2 of the ACT Government Recovery Plan. All business and community activities currently in place can continue unchanged. Netball ACT advises all members that training and return of netball competitions can proceed under Stage 2.2.
In line with previous ACT Government advice netball is not considered a “full contact” sport for the purpose of these restrictions and is therefore able to proceed with a return to competitions as planned, within the provisions of the ACT Government Recovery Plan Stage 2.2. This allows us to continue contested training and competitions. All netball competitions at a community and territory level will remain in place as advised under the Return to Netball Roadmap V2.0
Netball ACT and the District Associations will continue to follow advice and restrictions from the ACT Government, keeping our members up to date on any impacts to the netball community. All netball competitions across the ACT have COVID-Safe Environment plans in place, ensuring a safe environment for participants, volunteers, and spectators (where applicable and allowed). Full details on Netballs COVID Safe Environment frameworks are available on the Netball ACT Website
We would like to remind the netball community of the following COVID Safe guidelines under Stage 2.2:
- Group sizes of 100 people at indoor and outdoor venues is permitted. Avoiding large crowds is recommended from the ACT Government
- Be prepared for training/competition prior to arrival at your venue. The principle of “get in, train/play and get out” is to be applied. Minimise the need to gather in change rooms and common areas.
- Always maintain good hand hygiene practices, hand sanitiser stations are available at all netball venue entry and exit points
- Maintain a physical distance of 1.5m in all off-court activities for participants, volunteers, and spectators
- Under no circumstances should anyone who is feeling unwell (however mild) attend any netball event or facility
- Do not travel to Victoria for any reason other than absolutely essential purposes. When returning ensure 14 days quarantine requirements are followed as required by the current ACT Government guidelines.
Netball ACT encourages the Netball Community to download the Australian Government COVIDSafe App to assist the contact tracing process and help support your family, friends and the community.
