A State of Emergency has been declared in the ACT for all areas of the ACT from today until Sunday 2 February 2020, due to the Orroral Valley fire burning out of control in Namadgi National Park.
The ACT Government suggests all organisations review safety, emergency response and WHS plans and consider how conditions may impact their activities or events and how best to eliminate or mitigate risk and minimise the health impacts to everyone involved. This includes staff, contractors and suppliers, performers, athletes and the public.
On that basis and following the announcement of the ACT State of Emergency, for the safety and well-being of our members, staff, volunteers, athletes and visitors, Netball ACT is will be following the guidelines of the Department of Sport and Recreation and our own OH&S and Heat-related policies with the following actions:
- The scheduled training sessions for the ACT U’17 and U’19 representative teams scheduled for Saturday 1 February at the Solarhub Netball Centre will be postponed.
- The scheduled The Capital Spirit session scheduled for Saturday 1 February at the Solarhub Netball Centre will be postponed.
- The ACT Men's and Mixed training session scheduled for 1 February at the Solarhub Netball Centre will be postponed.
- The scheduled Futsal matches on Sunday 2 February at the Solarhub Netball Centre will be cancelled.
- All officials and volunteers for these events have been notified.
Unfortunately, we are left with no option but to take this action and we ask that everybody in the netball family and the greater ACT community stay safe and look after each other during this period.
