Growing up around netball in the ACT, Anne McGilvray was in the ACTAS program, represented state teams, as well as played in the State League Division 1 for 15 years.
As a coach for Canberra Netball Association's State League U19s and Division 2 programs in recent years, Anne has been able to build confidence and take her coaching to a new level, aspiring her to nominate for TCS Academy Head Coach in 2022.
Anne says she's excited to have the opportunity to lead The Capital Spirit Academy and work with some of the ACT's most talented young netballers.
"I am really looking forward to seeing the individual development of each on of these athletes, and trying to provide an environment where they are engaged and supported to challenge themselves in new ways with their netball," Anne said.
"For many of them it will be their first experience of a high performance environment and I want them to love it, and feel valued while striving to develop their own skills and knowledge of our game."
Anne said she loves working with 15-18 year olds as they transition out of junior representative programs and into more competitive senior environments.
"I try to build strong connections and relationships within a team or academy group as this underpins their self confidence and desire to push themselves to improve and be their best," The Academy Coach said.
The Capital Spirit Academy a program will not only develop the athletes, but it will support Anne to develop as a coach.
"This will be a great experience for me stepping into the high performance pathways in the ACT, extending on from the coaching I've been doing in the HCF State League competition," Anne said.
"I'll have the opportunity to work with some amazing coaches and support staff while continuing to develop my own coaching style and knowledge."
