Netball ACT (NACT) welcomes the release by National Cabinet of the National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities, which provides the pathway for a safe and staggered return to sport.
Since postponing the 2020 netball season due to Covid-19, the NACT board and management have been working tirelessly, alongside Netball Australia and our district netball associations, to determine how and when the 2020 ACT netball season might be able to take place with the health and safety of our members, athletes, coaches, umpires, staff, volunteers and supporters as our key priority.
With the release of these national sports guidelines, we are aware that government announcements in relation to a safe and staggered return to community sport are imminent and the ACT netball community is excited and prepared.
NACT are now able to focus on narrowing our scenario planning down to the most realistic scenarios based on these principles and government health guidelines. We are continuing to work closely with our District Associations in preparing for the implementation of a safe return to netball training and competition activities in the ACT. Our staff and volunteers are in full ‘return to action’ planning for a careful and safe return to netball training and competition activities.
Decisions on what and when netballers in the ACT will be able to start to come back to the courts, is expected by the end of May.
