Netball ACT are proud to have a Reconciliation Round to coincide with National Reconciliation Week each year. Netball ACT recognises this week as an important time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving Reconciliation in Australia.
This year, all State League umpires will be officiating in new shirts featuring an Aboriginal design, created locally by Michael Cosier from HuRu Sports. All Division 1 games will be playing with netballs featuring the ‘Gather as One’ artwork, designed by local artist Sarrita King.
Netball ACT hopes that these small initiatives contribute to the continued conversation of how each community member can do their part to recognise the role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people play in their association, and how moving forward we can ask instead of assume, speak instead of silence and provide support to ensure we don’t keep history a mystery.
