Three athletes from the ACT have today been named in Netball Australia’s 17/U & 19/U National Squads. Selections for the squads had to be conducted differently again in 2021 with the cancellation of the National Netball Championships, due to COVID-19.
Netball ACT would like to congratulate the following three athletes on their selection into the National Squads:
19/Under National Squad – Jessica Berry
17/Under National Squad – Hayley Matthew and Samantha Bondietti
“Despite the set-back from cancelled competitions, Jess, Sami and Hayley have continually worked hard across the season to advance their game. Selection into the National Pathway is a fantastic achievement,” said The Capital Spirit/Netball ACT Head Coach Kate Carpenter.
This is the third selection in a row for Jess Berry into the Nationals Squad. When asked about her selection she had this to say “I’m really pleased to have been selected into the Australian Squad again. To be given the opportunity to play against the top netballers in the country is an exciting challenge. I can’t wait for the camp at the end of the year to showcase what I can do.”
Netball Australia will be looking to deliver training camps later this year for the selected athletes.
